Code-Breakers: Nursery Activities
Suitable for use with both F1 and F2 children, these Nursery activities are a fabulous way of preparing your children for Code-Breakers proper. Before a child embarks on the main Code-Breakers sessions, it is crucial that they have in place certain pre-requisite skills, (these are also helpful in other areas of the curriculum). These are: Listening skills, Sound discrimination and identification, Reproduction of sounds and Sequencing skills. This booklet contains a variety of activities and games that can be used to practice these skills. Also included is a Skills record sheet that will enable teachers to assess if their children are ready to move onto the main Code-Breakers programme.
(We highly recommend that anyone wishing to use these activities obtain a copy of the CBs DVD and Book, in order to understand more about how the scheme works.)

This booklet was produced as a result of feedback from Code-Breaker pilot schools up and down the country who felt their children could benefit from being prepared for the Phonics programme before they began their Reception term(s)/ year. It is therefore work-in-progress!
